Zero agent fee, five other places money goes
LitBuy's help centre says it offers free shopping-agent services with no charges other than merchandise costs, international shipping fees and customs charges. That sentence is accurate for the buying step: there is no percentage added on top of the item. The total you pay is the item price, plus the seller's domestic shipping to the Xiamen warehouse, plus international shipping, plus customs charges, plus whatever optional services you tick.
The catch is that "international shipping" is itself a bundle, and several small lines sit beside it. If you only compare a headline per-kilo price, you will miss most of them. The sections below follow the order of a real bill, and the LitBuy shipping cost page has the quotes by weight and country.
The 0% fee covers buying; every other line is shipping, service or customs.
Every LitBuy fee in one table
Yuan amounts are LitBuy's. Euro figures at ¥1 ≈ €0.12 are approximate; the exact amount depends on the rate LitBuy applies at checkout, which it does not publish.
| Line | Amount | About in € | When it applies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agent / purchasing fee | 0% | €0 | Every order, per help centre |
| Operation (declaration) fee | ¥10–13 per parcel | €1.20–1.56 | Every parcel; ¥10 in help, ¥10.53–12.65 in the estimator |
| Fuel surcharge | Varies by line | See next section | Every international quote |
| EU tariff prepayment | ¥24 (LitBuy's flat €3) | €3 | EU "Tax free" lines only; already inside the quote |
| EU processing fee | €2 per parcel | €2 | Parcels submitted after 14:00 Beijing time, 25 October 2026 |
| Payment handling fee | Not published | Unknown | Shown at checkout; none when paying by balance or gold coins |
| Extra photo | ¥1 each | €0.12 | Beyond the routine 3–6 photos |
| Shoe video | ¥7 per video | €0.84 | One 20-second video; footwear only |
| Rehearsal parcel | ¥20 plus materials | €2.40 | Pre-pack to learn real weight; coupons not accepted on it |
| Cancel parcel after packing | ¥20 plus materials | €2.40 | Unless the fault is LitBuy's |
| Overdue storage | 0.2% a day, min ¥1, max ¥300 a month | Up to €36 a month | From day 91, per item |
| Return before shipping | ¥5 plus both domestic legs | €0.60 plus freight | Within 120 hours of "Warehoused" |
| Reinforcement | About ¥10 per item plus materials | About €1.20 | Interface text; materials advertised free for a limited time |
Insurance premiums are not shown in the logged-out estimator, so we could not price Delay, Loss/Damage or Customs Seizure Protection. LitBuy's own cap is ¥5,000 per claim.
Most lines are cents; the ones that move a bill are shipping, fuel and the EU lines.
Inside a shipping quote: weight, fuel, operation fee and the EU line
LitBuy's estimator splits every quote into parts. For 1,000 g to Germany on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE it returned a weight fee of ¥93.10, fuel of ¥49.40, an operation fee of ¥11.02 and the ¥24.00 EU prepayment, which sums to ¥177.52. The estimator shows that as €24.12 ($27.10). To show each line in euros we split the €24.12 in proportion; the figures are our arithmetic, not LitBuy's.
| Part | CNY | Share of €24.12 | Share of total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weight fee | ¥93.10 | €12.65 | 52% |
| Fuel surcharge | ¥49.40 | €6.71 | 28% |
| Operation fee | ¥11.02 | €1.50 | 6% |
| EU tariff prepayment | ¥24.00 | €3.26 | 14% |
| Total | ¥177.52 | €24.12 | 100% |
The euro shares imply about €0.136 per yuan, above the ¥1 ≈ €0.12 we use for item prices. LitBuy does not explain the gap, so treat any yuan-to-euro conversion as approximate and rely on the euro quote where there is one.
Fuel is the line that differs most between carriers. At 1 kg it was ¥49.40 on the cheapest German line, about 53% of the weight fee, but ¥114.00 on SSF-DHL-FR-1 to France, about 113% of its ¥100.70 weight fee. The ¥24 prepayment is not an extra: it is LitBuy's flat €3 per parcel from its 24 June 2026 notice, already inside every EU tax-free quote. How it fits with customs is on the LitBuy customs page.
Compare lines by the all-in total, because fuel can outweigh the weight fee.
A German parcel bill from basket to doorstep
Prices below are hypothetical: three items, assumed domestic shipping and an assumed 1.0 kg parcel including packing. The shipping figure is LitBuy's 19 October 2026 quote for 1,000 g; the €2 applies because we assume the parcel is submitted after 25 October 2026.
Three items, one parcel, Germany
Jeans ¥159 + hoodie ¥129 + trainers ¥239 = ¥527€63.24
Seller shipping to warehouse, assumed ¥6 + ¥6 + ¥8 = ¥20€2.40
Four extra photos (¥4) and one shoe video (¥7) = ¥11€1.32
International shipping, LIT-Economy-DHL-DE, 1 kg (list)€24.12
EU processing fee€2.00
Total before payment fees€93.08
That is about $104.58 at the estimator's own euro-dollar ratio. Shipping and the €2 make up €26.12, or 28% of the bill. With the new-user 40% banner the estimator showed €18.29 for the same parcel, which would bring the total to €87.25; how that banner works is on the LitBuy coupon page. The payment fee is not in the sum because LitBuy does not publish it. As a guide, every 1% charged on €93.08 adds €0.93.
The operation fee also shows why one parcel beats three. At ¥11.02 each, three separate parcels would carry ¥33.06 (about €3.97) of operation fees; combined in one they carry ¥11.02. Heavier parcels cost more per shipment, so check the quotes at 500 g, 1 kg and 2 kg before you combine everything.
Items and domestic shipping are about 70% of this bill; the ¥11.02 line is small, but it multiplies by parcel count.
Payment handling fees: the line LitBuy does not publish
LitBuy's interface says it heavily subsidises and reduces the handling fees of payment channels, and that no handling fee is deducted when paying with balance and gold coins. It never gives a percentage for cards, PayPal or Klarna; the amount appears at checkout. One Trustpilot reviewer on 17 October 2026 complained of payment processing fees above 10%. We could not verify that, and it is one person's claim, but it explains why you should look at the checkout total before confirming.
Refund rules matter here too: fees charged by the payment provider, not by LitBuy, are non-refundable when an order is cancelled. That is one more reason to pay per order rather than load money in advance, and the LitBuy payment methods page covers each channel.
Read the checkout total, not the item price, and expect a payment fee that LitBuy leaves unpublished.
Photos, rehearsal, cancellation, storage and returns
Photos are cheap and storage is the expensive surprise. LitBuy's help says routine photos are generally three to six; extra photos cost ¥1 each. A rehearsal parcel costs a fixed ¥20 and is usually done within 24 hours; it cannot use coupons, though a shipping coupon still works on the final payment. Cancelling a parcel after packing costs ¥20 plus materials.
- Storage: 90 days free per item. After that the fee is 0.2% of the price paid per day, never below ¥1. A ¥600 item costs ¥1.20 a day, so ten overdue days is ¥12. The ¥300-a-month cap bites only on large items: LitBuy's example is a ¥6,000 item that would reach ¥312 in 26 days and is capped at ¥300.
- Returns before shipping: ¥5 plus the seller shipping both ways; the full rules are on the LitBuy returns page.
- Rehearsal: once packed, the ¥20 and materials are non-refundable, unless the fault is the platform's. The rehearsal parcel page explains when it pays off.
Ship within 90 days and skip rehearsals for light parcels; those two habits avoid the larger optional fees.
Questions buyers ask
Is LitBuy really free of agent fees?
LitBuy states it charges no agent fee: its help centre promises no charges other than merchandise costs, international shipping and customs charges. In practice the bill still has small lines, chiefly a per-parcel operation fee of about ¥10–13, optional services such as extra photos at ¥1 each, and payment handling fees that LitBuy does not publish. The 0% headline is true for buying only.
Why does every LitBuy parcel carry an operation fee?
The help centre calls it a customs declaration cost, generally ¥10 depending on shipping method, while the estimator shows an operation fee of ¥10.53–12.65 on the lines we read. They look like the same per-parcel line. It is charged once per parcel, not per item, which is the reason to combine several items into one shipment.
Why is LitBuy's fuel surcharge so different between lines?
The estimator adds fuel as a separate line, and it varies widely: ¥49.40 on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE at 1 kg, about half the weight fee, but ¥114.00 on SSF-DHL-FR-1, more than the weight fee itself. LitBuy does not explain how it is set. Compare total quotes per line rather than the weight fee alone.
Do I pay the EU €2 fee on top of the shipping quote?
Yes, for parcels submitted after 14:00 Beijing time on 25 October 2026. LitBuy announced a €2 per-parcel customs processing fee and says it pays it to customs for you. The €3 EU line is already inside the tax-free quotes as ¥24, so only the €2 is added. A 1 kg German parcel quoted €24.12 would come to €26.12.
What do extra photos and shoe videos cost on LitBuy?
The help centre says routine inspection photos are generally three to six, with extra custom photos at ¥1 each, about €0.12. The interface lists ¥7 for one 20-second shoe video, about €0.84. The code also shows promotional periods when custom photos are free, but we cannot tell when that applies, so budget the ¥1.
What happens if I leave an item in LitBuy storage too long?
Each item gets 90 days free. From day 91 LitBuy charges 0.2% of the item price per day, minimum ¥1 per day, capped at ¥300 per item per month. If overdue fees stay unpaid for more than 30 days the item is disposed of. LitBuy's own example: a ¥4,000 item costs ¥8 a day.
